SYSTEM DIVIDE Premiere New Track Off ‘The Conscious Sedation’ Exclusively Online

In conjunction with the upcoming debut full-length release from System Divide, ‘The Conscious Sedation’, Metal Blade Records has teamed up with us again to premiere the extreme modern metal act’s single “Hollow”. Be sure to check out the music video for the song “The Apex Doctrine”, which was shot by Kevin Custer (Hatebreed, Testament, Dope, Dying Fetus, Suffocation) too. We are killing it!

If you like what you hear and see head over to the band’s landing page and pre-order the album while there is still time to take advantage of the discounted prices. ‘The Conscious Sedation’ is available by itself or bundled with a t-shirt.

Vocalist Miri Milman breaks down the lyrical content on the track “Hollow”: “This song is personal to me; it speaks of a person that suffers continuously yet doesn’t have the courage, guts, or strength to change his/her situation and keeps on being stuck in this downward spiral.

It is about the fear of changing something in your life for the better, the fear of taking that step which could make everything better. The song develops towards the person actually daring to take the step and seeing there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

This is obviously the ballad of the record, the calm between the storm. We wanted to also add to the diversity of the record and not only have fast songs all over the record. While being a softer System Divide song; it still has a part that will crush your balls with a smile. We hope you will all enjoy listening to it as much as we had writing it. Metal!”

“During the Beijing Olympics the world spotlight turned to a country synonymous with human rights abuse and by any measure a totalitarian police state. But under the surface is a growing movement of punks and misfits, the irony of which is not lost on Jefford as he roams this rebellious sub culture a scratch under the surface of bustling Beijing”
*****
“I wanted to make a movie about rebellion. Then I fell in love with the punks of Beijing, the love they have for music and the inherent comedy of their situation..” Shaun Jefford,  Director

Nightfall Posts “Ambassador Of Mass” Music Video

August 27, 2010

Greek act Nightfall has launched the video for the song “Ambassador Of Mass,” which can be viewed after the jump. Nightfall singer Efthimis Karadimas comments the clip: “The story depicted is inspired by the Greco-Persian wars in the 5th century BC. The video is purely based on the ancient technique of Shadow Puppet Theatre evolved and widely used in different areas of the world eons ago. Every character, ship, map, etc you see in it has been built from scratch especially for that motion clip. The video has been directed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos, a prominent master of visual arts, based in the city of Berlin. I am sure you haven’t seen anything similar around!”

Comments director Achilleas Gatsopoulos: “After our initial talks and meetings with Efthimis, we decided to approach the video in a challenging and unconventional way. We chose to use shadow puppetry and push its boundaries through modern technology in order to create something really unique; something that could best convey the epic scale of our story. Considerable research ensued, and the storyline was constructed according to the structure and lyrics of the song, sprinkled with a touch of mythology, while staying true to the actual historical facts. The design and construction of the puppets were done in collaboration with fine artist Hara Kolaiti, referencing on the one hand the Ancient Greek vases’ depictions of greek warriors of the time, and on the other, the numerous detailed reliefs of Xerxes and his warriors in Persepolis.

“In total, more than thirty meticulously detailed puppets and backgrounds were created for the video. These were shot one by one and then composited into scenes digitally. The aim was to take Shadow Puppetry as a traditional medium, and explore its cinematic potential. Thus, scenes were created both in two dimensional space, as well as in three dimensional epic camera shots. The result is a truly original and unconventional music video that best complements Efthimis’ musical vision.”
