Originally from Ghana and now based in Holland, Friction is conquering the world with his unique music style, powerful songs and his unforgettable live band shows. Friction mixes Reggae with African and Caribbean vibes, and has been active in the music industry since he grew up in one of Accra’s big neighbourhoods called Nima/Mamobi. As a teenager he founded the group VIP (Vision in Progress), one of Ghana’s most popular music groups. After being their frontman for a couple of years he went solo, and continued to follow his musical visions. In 2006 he got admitted to the Dutch Music University ‘The Rockacademy’, as the first African artist ever. Over the years he has been the support act of Reggae Legends such as Morgan Heritage and I Jah Man Levi, and his singles get airplay on stations such as BBC Radio.
Nowadays Friction’s weeks are filled up with performances on international festivals, events and other stages with his band The Roots Drivers. In 2016 they performed on over a 90 international stages, including UK’s #1 Reggae Festival The One Love Festival. In 2017 they are continuing their tour, with shows all over the world, including the world famous Notting Hill Carnival in London and Festival der Kulturen in Germany.
