If Walls Could Talk – “Static” Official Music Video

Artist city, country: Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.

Artist Biography: If Walls Could Talk is an alternative pop rock group from Detroit, MI, comprised of Anthony Berkseth (Vocals), Nick DiStefano (Guitar), Steven Fronrath (Keys), Zack Spoutz (Drums), and Anthony White (Bass). With a theatrical sound and live performance inspired by acts including Coldplay, Panic! At The Disco, and Imagine Dragons, If Walls Could Talk aim to create an experience for their fans. The band’s name stems from the idea that in a sense they relate to metaphorical walls, not because of what they do, but because of what they cannot do: speak. We have voices, but through music the band is able to do so by telling stories in ways that are meaningful enough to convey how they feel.

Since the band’s formation, If Walls Could Talk have worked on creating a sound that is all their own. In 2016 the band released their debut EP, What Would They Say?, which features tracks that are structured like a classical aria while others blend elements of rock, rap, and pop. With their energetic and interactive live performances, the band has a talent for connecting with fans and have shared the stage with artists including Joyce Manor, Foxing, Basement, Norma Jean, and Andrea Gibson. Now If Walls Could Talk has returned with What Would They Say? Deluxe Edition, set for release on June 8th, 2018, that includes new tracks as well as three revisionist acoustic tracks. Vocalist Anthony Berkseth shares, “When we recorded the original album, it was our best work we had in us at the time. Now we’ve only built upon that, and we’re so happy with what was created.”

About the Video: “Static” captures some of the band’s most raw emotions, showcasing the frustration felt by someone who put their whole heart into another only to be betrayed.

Song Lyrics: “Static”

I feel like cursing out your name
Cuz I know you’re the one to blame
And all these tricks get to my head
You make me feel like I am dead

You feel so static to me, I can’t take you seriously anymore
And when this conversation rises in the morning, will you take the floor?
I’m not okay
I can’t forget you
Don’t feel insane
But I kinda want to
You feel so static to me, I can’t take you seriously anymore

I know you’re gonna fight it, I know you’re gonna fight it
Cuz every time you’re hiding your feelings
But even now, there’s no fuck (time) worth givin’
I’ll just go on pretending I’m livin’

Don’t tell me I can’t get a little suspicious
Aurguments getting visious
I don’t want to let you go
But you will have to let me know

Cuz it’s not clear what you want from me, no
And all I hearin is a static
An addict would leave and let you go, so soon
But maybe thats whats wrong with me
Get too involved just so I can write a song or three
Give it right back this smack talk lacks all that
I can even handle
Rhyming is a scandal
Give or take
You live to break me, well darlin’
You just got your wish
Cuz I can’t even hear you anymore

(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
(slowly you’re fading out)
