Equally inspired by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus and MC5, Brooklyn-based psychedelic funkers KITARI are a high-energy trio combining dark melodies with epic, driving, spaced-out rock.
Originally formed almost a decade and a half ago in a small Upstate, NY mountain town by middle school friends Adam Weyant (guitar and vocals) and Jared Rinaldi (bass, vocals and keys), the pair went their separate ways after graduation until the spring of 2014, when they began exchanging music ideas via Facebook and e-mail. Excited about the songs they were writing, they both relocated to NYC and quickly spawned a full set of dynamic, powerful songs.
Teaming up with the insanely talented, half-man/half-squid Jim Saint-Amour on drums, Kitari spent a weekend in early March 2016 at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY to hammer out their three song EP, “The Scarecrow & the Manor.” They are currently playing sweaty shows in and around NYC and also recently released a just-as-sweaty music video for their song “Ghost City Shores.” They are heading back to Applehead Studios at the end of February, 2017 to record their full-length debut album, “The Breath of Empty Space.”
