About the Video: “Despite the LONG history of heavy music in our city, it is still inspiring to know that San Antonio’s legacy continues to generate young, hard working & visionary artists. Just as important is the music scene’s ability to recognize who they are & give them the support they deserve as fuel to persevere in an industry which can be just as brutal as the music it promotes. Mourning Sun is definitely one of these bands! I recently came across the band’s new EP, ‘Therapy Sessions’ & was not only taken aback by the splendid mix of brutal metalcore breakdowns & vocal diversity, but by the deep lyrical content from vocalist, James Vaughn Lubbering, who shares his inner demons on songs like, ‘Ships Set to Sail’ & the telling, ‘Son of No Man’. Holistically, I found ‘Therapy Session’ to be a focal representation of the 2nd generation of talent to surface in the wake of their successful predecessors (in the likes of Upon A Burning Body & Darkness Divided) who have solidified SA as a breeding ground for metal talent of the highest grade. Thus, I felt compelled to get the band in front of our cameras to discuss their evolution, the year long recording of TS at Artik Studios, performance goals for the rest of the year, their memories of The White Rabbit & what we can expect from them in 2017.
