Azwel
‘The Elastic Journey’ is the first release in three years by Azwel from New York.
The album, as always, was recorded in songwriter Jason Perrillo’s studio in NY. He wrote/engineered/arranged the music. The instrumentation on the album includes a wide array of instruments. Aside from the typical guitars and keyboards there are lots of strings, woodwind and brass sounds. Styles range from pop rock, acoustic, britpop, baroque pop etc. Lyrical themes involve loss, altercation, depression, and general storytelling as the moods change from song to song.
Up until a few years ago Azwel just consisted of Jason Perrillo but now there is a full live band consisting of Joe Lorge (guitar/backing vocals) Gregg Steele (bass/backing vocals), Johnny Zaletel (drums/percussion), and occasional live member, Randy Bennis(Keyboards.) The sound is catchy, memorable and often compared to britpop/rock artists.
Most of the albums are available to download for free on the official website with the choice of optional donations depending on how much the listener enjoys the album.
