About the Video: The video continues the story of the “Montana Kid” (the self-titled single from his 2016 album). It is the third installment of his story starting with “Continuously” which then jumps to “Montana Kid” video, a time shortly after the events of “Ghost Behind Your Mind” took place.
The story of the Montana Kid starts when he was a young cowboy living off the land going from campfire to campfire. Surviving on the remaining precious coins left to him from his father before he passed. Over one night, camped out, the Montana Kid woke to find that someone had robbed him of his money, so he sets out to find the individuals responsible.
In “Montana Kid” we jump forward in time to see the cowboy, now an older man, who appears to be in a state of turmoil. Haunted by three ghosts: one – the Montana Kid as a young cowboy, two – the Montana Kid at mid-age, and three – a young girl in a white dress. The ghosts are there to warn him of something malevolent coming. The Montana Kid cannot decipher if these ghosts are really there or just figments of his conscience haunting him for the decisions he made in the past. At the final scene we see the older Montana Kid place a straw hat on one of the two graves that were seen throughout the film.
In “Ghost Behind Your Mind” we jump back to a time before “Montana Kid”. In this video we see a man in blue wearing the straw hat from the grave walking down a gravel road, as he stops he continues to hear footsteps behind him. It cuts to the older Montana Kid waking up in a bed and wondering about a house. He finds a blue shirt and straw hat in his closet and puts it them on. Soon after he begins to see three ghosts within his mind, and they appear to be yelling things at him. He soon finds out they are trying to warn him of another dark force approaching, this time it is the man in the blue shirt from the start of the film. The Montana Kid has troubles comprehending what is going on and wonders if he is losing his mind. As the entity is getting closer it leads up to the end of the video where viewers are shown what really happened. As the Montana Kid is seen in his original attire wielding a large rock over his head ready to knock out the man in blue. The final scene cuts to the Montana Kid lying next to a bloody rock and two graves, this is where he has been this whole time. He killed the man in blue and has just been picturing himself living the blue man’s life.
