A Vicious Kind – “W.T.W.C.” Iamcomasix
Artist city, country: Winnipeg, Canada
Artist Biography: Cole Vincent is a Canadian musician most known for his role as a guitarist in the indie-pop act Latka, which made waves across western Canada, including a Western Canadian Music Award nomination in 2014. Moving forward from this chapter in his musical career, Vincent found himself exploring musical genres closer to his heart; rock, metal and punk all make him feel at home. Currently completing his debut album under the name A Vicious Kind (AVK), Vincent has reached a stage of musical composition where he is comfortable with all roles, from writing music and lyrics, to playing key roles in the production of each track. With local engineer Jordan Voth and studio drummer Pascal Courcelles joining him in delivering his vision for AVK, Vincent seeks to explore his musical influences with no restrictions. The debut single “W.T.W.C.” (Wounds That We Carry) explores these influences with a lyrical representation of Vincent’s transition to adult life and struggle with mental health and its effects on relationships and self identity. The culmination of these themes is found in the climactic bridge, pushing the boundaries of the otherwise pop-punk track into the stratosphere as a new beginning has been found. That new beginning is AVK.

Song Lyrics: Captivated by my thoughts of you
Memories of heavy hearts won’t do
My knees crumbled in the depths of the wounds that I carry
And while I’ve been crafting words inside my head
Have you been jumping fences instead of
Succumbing to the depths of the wounds that you carry
Reality can only be what you make it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
Anxiety, it’s always so hard to take it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
Trapt in gazes of my love, my muse
I called you out just so I can move
And crawl out from the depths of the wounds that I carry
The air here is so much more fulfilling when
My fear respects how I feel when you’re near
We’ll share the depths of the wounds that we carry
Reality can only be what you make it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
Anxiety, it’s always so hard to take it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
In a cave of wonderment I found a shell so hollow
It could be my heart, but this could be a start
For us to fill with gold and to shed our copper bones
‘Cause my love it won’t be spent and my heart it won’t be sold
Reality can only be what you make it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
Anxiety, it’s always so hard to take it
It took 23 years just to see me face
And I’ll never let it go to waste
And I’ll never let it go to waste
And I’ll never let it go to waste
