Pathetic Fallacy – “2018” Official Music Video

Artist city, country: Asbury Park, New Jersey, U.S.A.

Artist Biography: We’re a 4-piece metal band called Pathetic Fallacy. All of us are from central New Jersey, and we formed in late June of 2017. We’ve gone through a few lineup changes since then, but now we’re happily made up of Julian Worden (vocals), Louis Sabba (guitar), Tasman Cioppa (drums), and Matt Diguiseppe (bass).
On November 23rd of 2018, we released a single titled “2018,” as well as a music video for it. This song is going to be the first song off of our new 5-song EP, which will be released on December 8th, 2018 and titled “Regicide.”

Director: The actor, the person who shot the video, as well as all the members of the band worked together to direct the video. Those people are Alexa Petersen (videographer), Christian Sasso (actor), Julian Worden, Matt Diguiseppe, Tasman Cioppa, and Louis Sabba.

Producer Name: Alexa Petersen (AlexaCPeterson on Instagram)

About the Video: Filming the video was an interesting experience because it was the first one we’ve ever done, and most of the ideas for shots were made up on the spot. We didn’t even know where we were going to shoot until the day of. As a result, there wasn’t really one director, and it ended up being a group effort where all of us were shouting out ideas for different shots. Something else that made filming the video interesting was having an actor who wasn’t in the band. This actor was Christian Sasso.
The song’s meaning is based off the plotline of the book “1984” by George Orwell. The reason that the song is named “2018” is to convey the idea that some of the societal norms present in “1984” are actually present in today’s society to some degree. The lyrics are from the perspective of the book’s main character, and they’re referring to the every day struggles he faced. We were able to tie this plotline into the video by having Christian portray the main character of the book, and by having him wander around the woods while paranoid and aware of the fact that he was being watched by all the members of the band, who symbolized Big Brother.
